I danced in a Portland nightclub Friday night surrounded by tech workers, thinking about revolution while someone played a remixed Beyonce track. This is the complete failure of modern left politics: we can identify the system but can’t stop enjoying it.
The Contradiction Economy
Nightclubs are capitalist machines. You pay for entry, for drinks, for the experience of temporary escape. Then you go back to capitalism Monday morning. BBC social coverage treats nightlife as entertainment. I treat it as evidence of political failure: we’ve lost even the language of systemic change.
